Biography : Widow says he joined the British Army in 1776 at New York. He was taken prisoner at Paulus Hook in 1779 and carried to a Philadelphia goal where he died. His siblings remained in New Jersey.

Family History : Members of the WANAMAKER family (John, Henry, Peter and Richard Wanamaker's widow, Elizabeth) sailed in the Fall Fleet (Oct 1783) to NB aboard the ship Esther. Also onboard where Loyalists Benjamin and John APPLEBY who served with Henry WANAMAKER in VAN ALLEN's Coy, NJ Volunteers. Henry's wife was the widow of Loyalist Peter APPLEBY.
