Biography : A successful merchant, Cornell helped finance government and military projects. His daughters unsuccessfully sued for return of his confiscated property - a confiscation in violation of the Treaty of Paris.
Proven Descendants : Rebecca Fraser, Vancouver Branch
Military Info : For refusing the oath, he was not allowed to return to his home in North Carolina. He moved his family to New York where he died during the War.
Loyalist Genealogy : Rebecca Fraser certificate application has been submitted for approval.
Family History : Granddaughter Rebecca m. David OGDEN, 1st cousin of explorer & fur trader, Peter Skene Ogden. Rebecca and David OGDEN's granddaughter m. David Ford JONES, grandson of Loyalist Ephraim JONES a member of the 1st Legislature of Upper Canada and whose family was influential in founding Brockville, Ontario.
Family Genealogy : The families of Loyalist Ephraim Jones and Loyalist Samuel Cooke (1st Rector of Fredericton, NB) are related through their children (Jonas Jones and Mary Ford).
